Stinger Truck Safety Training
Posted by Gerry Asher on October 23, 2008Does your company have Stinger Trucks?

Stinger Trucks, also known as Scout Truck or Bin Truck, are a crucial part of the Waste Management and Municipality industry. These unique vehicles are both a truck and a forklift. Currently, OSHA does not have specific standards for the safe use of a Stinger Truck. However, ANSI has published safety standards for Mobile Refuse Collection and Compaction Equipment, which address safe operation. This program was developed using the ANSI standards Z245 [specifically 245.1]. Other guidelines that we used are from several applicable Cal/OSHA standards including §3650 (Industrial Trucks), §4345 (Trash Collection Equipment), and the California Vehicle Code (CVC).
This 5-hour course is designed to train students in the safe operation and use while working with and around Stinger Trucks. It is not designed to provide a driver’s license to anyone or teach an individual how to drive a Stinger Track. Operators MUST have a valid CA driver’s license when operating on city, state or federal roads. Training will cover such topics as:
- Engineering Principles
- Pre-Shift Inspection
- Operating Procedures
- Spotter Safety
- Hand Signals

Customer Testimonial
Posted by Gerry Asher on October 9, 2008Mr. Luna we hope you had a pleasant weekend or what was left of it. Just wanted to inform you that the group you instructed was pleased with your class and appreciated how you involved them in the process and made them aware of the Safety aspects that are involved when operating this type of equipment.
They enjoyed the collection of clips and photos you presented them and would like to have as many as you can spare for their presentations.
Once again thank you for your instruction and for keeping it interesting to our personnel.
Sincerely,
John F.
